Intelligence and a good temperament have made the Labrador one of America's favorite dogs. The breed first became popular in the early 1800s in Newfoundland when the dogs accompanied fishermen in their boats and retrieved fish that fell from the over-laden nets. Today's Labrador retains the keen reflexes and excellent sense of sight and smell that made it a sucessful retriever.

I love to see Labs on a shore. If you place these head studies together, you can see one solid wave in the background. Capturing the dogs and the wave was a challenge I set for myself, and I thing I met it. - JW
