I wanted to give a final tribute to my friend Grady, who passed away about five years ago, by showing the bond between him and Maggie, my yellow Lab-who is the daughter of Brant, the black Lab I previously painted.

I really appreciate the silent yet powerful sensation of being in a snowstorm. I've been studying impressionistic masters like Monet, and I enjoyed contrasting the background with the tight detail of the human and canine subjects. - JW
