I love to paint scens using candlelight because it brings such warmth to anything it touches and makes a setting come alive. I was especially attracted by the dancing flame's rich warmth as it blended with the cool evening light. The girl in this painting is set in a time long ago, when candles were the main source of illumination, and life was much simpler.

I don't always provide an ending to my stories. For me, it is enough to pose the questionand let the viewer decide. - MW
