One day toward dusk, I was working in my studio when I heard a flock of Canada gees calling overhead. I rushed out to my deck and saw them pass high above me, their wings beating strong and steady. I imagined being alongside them, heading up over the Three Sisters Mountains and on over the rest of the Cascades. Long after they flew out of sight, their cry stayed with me. It's a special sound, the call of the Canada geese - it brings lingering memories of the change of seasons and the passing of time. - RF
