I fondly remember my escapades to the beautiful New York City with my wife. We always visit different landmarks throughout the city such as the Statue of Liberty or Empire State Building; however, my most fond memory is of Broadway. The lights and sounds of this fantastic area of the city are some of the most romantic in existence.
It gives me a feeling of excitement that is hard to obtain elsewhere. People pack into the buildings to see a show of their choice with that special someone, performed to perfection. I was privileged to take my wife to see the shows Mama Mia! and The Phantom of the Opera. We were awed by what our senses perceived when entering these theatres and awaiting anxiously for the shows to begin. A mere description would not do justice to these titans of showmanship.
While on the way back to our hotel, I noticed a statue which I have passed quite often in the center of Times Square. Upon closer inspection, I find it to be of George M. Cohan, a leading star centered on Broadway. Standing beside the impressive statue looking out over Times Square, I gaze in wonder at what I see. It is not difficult to be impressed at what our architects are capable of, and to draw inspiration from such an amazing sight. I decided to give my own regards to Broadway with this painting, in the hope to do justice and further immortalize this majestic vision of art. - RF
