Make believe was a part of growing up for all of us and, in a way, is still a part of my adult life. I find that creating a work of art is a little like making believe for me. When researching my paintings, I make many visits to antique shops, and I am reminded of my own past and imagine what it might have been like in earlier days. The baby buggy in this scene is from the past; it continues to be cherished by a child making believe, just as it was by her mother and grandmother before her. - JD
