Everyone who has ever had a passion for cats knows that cats have an independent spirit. For me that's what their charm is - they always seem to be full of mystery and to be a little above us all, as if they know something that we don't. When I look into the eyes of a cat, I feel like it's looking into my soul. For some, that can be a little frightening; for others it can be a real closeness. The little girl in my work is discovering that special closeness. She is enjoying the moment with her friend - a little girl and her cat just passing the time away. - JD
