One of my favorite places in the world is Venice, Italy. The textures, colors, mood, and even the smells, are unlike any other place on earth - a city full of romance and Old World elegance. During our last visit, we hired a boat to take us up and down the Grand Canal giving me time to photograph and sketch several famous and lesser known sites. This view of the Rialto Bridge is a favorite of mine, especially during the twilight hours of the day. "Rialto Bridge / Venice” is a composite painting based on several photos and drawings featuring views at slightly different angles and different times of the evening. My hope is that this painting transports you to a different time and place, one that is filled with mystery, joy and beauty. - RC
