Black bear is a relatively common species in North America and more so in my home state of Montana where I am fortunate to be able to do field work practically (and sometimes actually) outside my back door. Scent of Spring was painted for the 2015 Masters of the American West Fine Art Exhibition and Sale at the prestigious Autry National Center in Los Angeles, CA. This exhibition challenges 75 nationally recognized artists to exhibit their very best work. I have been honored to be included for 12 years running, the last two years my son, Adam, also participated. - DS
