The kestrel is our smallest falcon, which formerly bore the name of sparrow hawk. He is not much bigger than a well-built robin, but he is a fast, fierce hunter. This scene inspired me because the strong, rhythmic lines of the elm branches divide the snowy hillside into interesting white shapes. - RB
