Autumn
is one of my favorite seasons. What better time for a hayride than
after choosing the best pumpkins of all? The wagon chugged along the
well-worn and sometimes very bumpy and narrow path. The hay was crunchy
and had that barn smell to it. We loved every minute of the ride and,
through the kindness of the farmer, we could munch on a crispy apple if we
wanted. Do you remember those autumn days? What happy times they

Paul
Landry's fine art benefits from his personal experiences as a boy growing
up in the rural towns he paints. Here, he captures both an image and
a feeling which is, at once, both warm and nostalgic. It is also
both charming and reassuring. "It may be chilly outside," he
says, "but the beautiful red ribbonned wreath calls out a warm hello.
The sled, Captain Joseph's, has well stood the test of time, and so has
the love of the generations who have rode it. The simplicity and charm of
the holiday decorations, too, reflect the outpouring of love from the
family who lives inside. However, their warm hello is offered all year
round - not just at Christmas time. 'Love thy neighbor,' the old saying
goes, and this quaintly decorated entry is one way they show that love. |

I
like to imagine this is the home of a sea captain and his family.
Passed from one generation to the next, the rambling architecture shows
this was his father's and grandfather's before that. When not at sea
he shared with his sons the pleasure of creating ship models, and from an
old rocking chair he told sea stories... and he shared his talents with

Landry's images tenderly wed flowers with our own universal fond memories. His own love of gardening is his inspiration. Of A Sailor's Garden , Landry says "Even though the sailor may be at sea for months at a time and enjoy it immensely, he also loves the time spent in his garden caring for the earth. Both sea and land call his heart and hand. But, I wonder, if he had to make a choice, would he agree that there is no place like home? And is there truly any other place like your own garden?" |

Paul
Landry paints flowers because he loves them. This popular artist is
an inveterate gardener whose yard is brimming with blooms. "Yes,
spring is here, hoping to fill your heart with the joy of its color and
lift your spirit with its beauty," Landry explains. "The snow
has melted and all the tulips, daffodils, crocus, and daylilies are
enjoying the warmth of the sun. They sparkle in the company of purple
lilacs, impatiens, petunias, morning glories, and dahlias. They also
happen to be among my favorites. Just strolling along this path
entices us to get back to the pleasure of gardening again." |
