"Little Bo Peep has lost her sheep, And cannot tell where to find them; Leave them alone, and they'll come home, And bring their tails behind them."
Unlike most multi-layered nursery rhymes, this is one of the few which has no hidden meaning, so I chose to portray it with the universal sentiment that patience is better than panic. I don't think Bo is a bad sheepherder - her flock was probably just having some fun with her. So I wanted to create a peaceful, expansive mood, one that radiates happiness rather than worry. |

Can you find all the hidden references to this lovely old nursery rhyme? Scott says that the lively-looking daisies are the "pretty maids all in a row." The seashells bordering the flower bed in the background are "cockle shells." And the silver bells? "When I was a kid," Scott says, "I always called lily of the valley 'silver bells' because of their bell-shaped blooms, so I've 'planted' a few of them at Mary's feet." It would be quite contrary for roses, tulips and marigolds to be anything less than beautiful and the colors of these are simply exquisite. |

Merlin's magical prowess was renown - as the son of a devil and virtuous maiden, he had tremendous power but used it only for good. Later on, it was Merlin who placed the sword in the stone - which only young Arthur could remove and become England's King. This is Merlin's room - full of exotic and marvelous portents, omens, objects and animals (can you find the owl, hedgehogs, raven, unicorn and the puffin?). Strange things are afoot here - notice how the bottles on the tables have faces and seen to be shape-shifting. ...and is the ink bottle writing something? - S. G. |
