Norah Lynne fell madly in love with twin grizzly cubs being raised in a preserve. They had been orphaned shortly after birth and were hand-raised.
They were impossible to photograph as they were perpetually in motion. This one slowed down for a moment and I got in a lucky shot. |

Today's films would have made this image much sharper, but I like the softness that the film of so long ago produced. |

I was extremely fortunate to catch this handsome male at dusk as we were returning to camp after a game drive. I shot him "full-bodied." Later, when I developed my film, I feared that he was "too graphic" for some viewers. So I cropped him to a portrait shot.
Incidentally, in seven trips to Africa, this was the best leopard shot I ever took. I was with Joel, my favorite Kenyan guide. He had spent eight years as a Kenyan game warden followed by several years as a guide. He said he had never been this close to a leopard. |

One of the most spectacular places to see wildlife is the Ngoro Ngoro Crater in Tanzania. It is a home for tens of thousands of African wild animals.
This spectacular setting was created by a volcanic eruption that collapsed one of the world's tallest mountains two million years ago creating a crater (caldera) that is 12 miles across and nearly half a mile deep.
Here zebras quench their thirst while scores of flamingos dot the background. |
